I'm Uzair Rather, a principal AI engineering manager at BQE Software, based in Srinagar, Kashmir. I've been building software for thirteen years.
I started as an Android engineer in 2013 and grew into leading the mobile team. I then spent two years at Infosys as a technology lead, scaling a Flutter and Android platform to more than 100,000 users in the US and UK. In late 2023 I came back to BQE to start its AI team, and since then I've led the team building an AI analyst that answers questions about a firm's projects, people and money, on AWS Bedrock with Anthropic's Claude models.
Along the way my organization grew from six people to more than twenty across mobile, quality engineering and AI, and four engineers I mentored moved into senior roles.
This site is where I write about what that has taught me: how engineering leadership changes when AI writes much of the code, how to architect AI products people can trust, and the decisions that are easy to get wrong.
